Safety comes first
Do not enter water where electrical hazards may be present. If there is a life-safety emergency, call 911.
Extraction and drying
Removing visible water is only part of the job. Moisture can remain in flooring, baseboards, drywall and cavities, so drying and moisture checks may also be needed.
Before help arrives
If it is safe and you know how, stop the source of incoming clean water. Move valuables away from the affected area without exposing yourself to electrical or structural hazards.
